An oriental tobacco or water pipe, with a long felexible tube that draws smoke through water contained in a bowl..

What is Hookah/ Shisha

Hookah or shisha both are same terms, there are different other names also for used for hookah like narghile, arghile, hubble-bubble, or goza. A hookah is like a water pipe which is used for smoking tobacco which is flavored and sweetened. The hookah bears separate chambers for housing of water and tobacco, with one flexible stem tube from which the tobacco smoke is usually inhaled by the consumers.

The tobacco used in hookah is flavored with molasses, honey, or fruit pulp. Additional flavors are which are further added to molasses are different fruit flavors, mint, herbs or coffee etc. The purpose of   flavoring is to increase its demand, making it more appealing, sweetening the taste and aroma of tobacco.

Working of Hookah, How Hookah Works

Tobacco Chamber is like a bowl which bears space for the flavored tobacco and the burning charcoal. The burning charcoal is separated from tobacco by means of an perforated aluminium foil. The charcoals are placed on the top of  tobacco.

When charcoal burns, it provides heat to the tobacco below resulting in creation of smoke. Now, when the smoker draws smoke by Hookah stem, the smoke created from the heated tobacco goes down to the water chamber where it is cooled and by means of the stem of hookah it is inhaled to the lungs of consumer.


History of Hookah

Hookahs are in use since 400 years. It was first originated from Asia. It was invented by an Indian  physician named Hakim Abdul Fateh to minimize the health hazards of tobacco by making the smoke of tobacco pass through the water before it gets inhaled.

The use of hookah was boosted when flavored tobacco came into scene. In 1990s, 
flavored tobaccos started gaining popularity in Eastern Mediterranean countries and since then the use of hookah with flavored tobaccos has spread all around the globe.

Nowadays, hookah lounges and bars are opening everywhere in big cities of United States as smoking hookah has become the most popular past time for youngsters.
