Smoking Shisha! Does Bigger Size of Hookah Gives Better Smoke

One of the most common misconception about hookah smoking is that large sized hookah gives you better smoke than the smaller one. This post is made to analyse this fact:

Large sized hookahs about 30 inch in size are usually used in Middle East. IN large sized hookahs mostly traditional chamber is used. There are 2 types of chambers traditional and common chamber. The chamber is a part of hookah where the smoke is passed from water jar to the hose port or water jar to purge valve.
Common chamber and traditional chamber Hookahs

Because of the design of common chamber hookah, as both purge valve and hose port empty into the chamber instead of the water jar, the process of purging is nearly impossible since there is no way air is forced into the water jar. As the water jar is the part of hookah where the bulk of your smoke is stored. Whereas in traditional chamber hookah both hose port and purge valve empty inside the mouth of the water jar, which makes purging very easy.
Traditional chambers are found in large sized hookahs, so smaller hookahs lack the feature of effective purging, where you can replace the harsh smoke by purging with the fresh smoke.

Hookahs with Metal Construction Gives Better Smoke

What are the important factors that play role in making smoke better and thicker! Unique composition of hookah tobacco, amount of water in the water jar are one of these factor. Metal construction is one of the important factor that plays role in cooling of the heated smoke that comes from the heated tobacco.

The metal construction of hookah absorbs heat from the smoke as it travels down in the stem of hookah. Even before the smoke gets into water, metal construction is of vital role here in cooling the smoke, and absorption of heat from the smoke. But most of the companies use very small amount of metal in construction of their hookahs. So, its not fair to say that these hookahs generate better smoke because of more metal in their construction.

Bottom Line

So either your hookah is large sized or smaller in size, it has nothing to do with the thickness of smoke, and enrichment of tobacco flavor. The factors which are important are proper sealing of joints of hookah, unique composition of tobacco and heat management of smoke and hookah.
